Eva May "Reds" (Campbell) Lake
April 26, 1941 ~ July 3, 2016 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Eva May Lake, affectionately known as “Reds”, age 75, of Panacea, FL, and Pike Creek, DE passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side. Born in Toughkenamon, PA, she was one of nine children and the oldest daughter of the late Forrest Clayton and Esther Helen (Williams) Campbell.

Reds was a graduate of Kennett High School. Before retiring in 2002, she truly loved working as a member of the custodial staff at West Chester University for 27 years. While in Florida, she enjoyed attending church functions, bargain shopping, and eating at restaurants. Reds’ passion was going to yard sales, helping the poor in her area, and doting on her dachshunds, which were beyond special to her.

A single mother, Reds was a fiercely protective and wonderful mother to her four children, as well as a loving Mommom to her grandchildren and great grandson. She was a woman of modest means, yet had a big heart, and would give to anyone in need. Reds will be especially remembered for her generous and feisty nature.

Reds was predeceased by her son, Eddie Lake, Jr. and her devoted companion of 20 years, Ralph Barnett. She is survived by her children, Marie Brackin, Stephanie Lynn Lake (John Clark) and Michael Ray Lake (Kelly Wieczorek); her grandchildren, Michael Patrick, and Lauren Marie Brackin, Christina Marie and Shannon Michaela Lake, and Emma Leigh and Abbey Lynn Cochran; her great grandson, Daniel Patrick Brackin; as well as her siblings, Robert Campbell, Howard Campbell (Kitty), Margaret Osborne (Odell), John Campbell, Mary Osborne, Forrest C. Campbell, Jr. (Patricia), Walter Campbell (Lorraine) and Judy Campbell. A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 7, from 10 AM to 12 Noon at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE, 19808, where a Celebration of “Reds” Life will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at New Garden Friends Cemetery in Toughkenamon, PA. The family extends a special thank you to Judy Campbell, Rita Lake, Tina and Shannon for their amazing comfort and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of Delaware, which her granddaughter, Christina, is a participant. Please mail donations in memory of Eva Lake to 619 S. College Ave., Newark, DE 19716.
